All of this has happened before, and will happen again....

There's all kind of news going on at my soap, All My Children.  First, they have "un-recast" the character of Greenlee Smythe DuPres Lavery.  Rebecca Budig was fantastic for several years in this role and was on her way to becoming a mini Kelly Ripa with stints on a couple of style shows and Lifetime movies.  She left at the end of '05 (but wasn't killed off) in a very silly storyline.

Earlier this year the role of Greenlee was recast amidst a lot of negative commentary:  it was Rebecca Budig's character and they shouldn't even bother bringing Greens back if it wasn't the original actress.  I was, admittedly, one of these folks -- I LOVE RB!

Well, Sabine Singh came in and bravely took the challenge of recreating a beloved (or behated, as the case may be) persona.  Over the last few months she's finally made Greenlee her own and has been accepted by many of us viewers.  Then, all of a sudden, when she's doing such a great job, boom!, news that Rebecca Budig is back.

I don't mean to be disloyal, but I am disappointed.  It would have been great to see where SS was taking the role -- the love interest with Aiden is wonderful and I'm not sure that RB will have the same chemistry with him.  It will be a shame if that s/l doesn't make it in the wake of the changes.

Still, I do like RB, so my feelings are really mixed.  I wish SS much luck in finding a new, more permanent gig!

Then, I don't even know what to make of all this: Angie and JESSE are returning to the soap!!! This is classic AMC back twenty years after Jesse's heart-wrenching death.  I still remember Angie, his doctor wife, making the decision to take him off life support and turning off the machine herself then getting in bed with him as he stopped breathing. OMG, how we all cried and cried.  It will be really interesting to see how they pull this off.  Good luck, guys!

These changes are all even more dramatic with all the writer strike stuff going on....
